Unlike any other city in California, Napa Valley is a little more exciting. I mean, after all, this is where you get to savor the tastiest bunch as a whole, right?
Wine tasting, in essence, is a pretty interesting activity. But, if you want to make your time a little more exciting, I’ll ask you to visit and explore a boutique winery in Napa.
Keep reading to know more about them.
What Is A Boutique Wine, Though?
A boutique wine from Napa is something unique and specialized to the very core. It’s usually created by an artisan aiming to curate some sort of a masterpiece. Thus, they tend to be handcrafted and come with a personalized taste as a whole. However…
Contrary to what you’re thinking, the procedure of creating a boutique wine begins from the time when a vineyard gets established. Even the root selection and the clone of the tree is closely tailored to suit the soil type and availability of water.
The harvesting tends to be timed perfectly as well. And, the barrel-aging program will depend on the type of taste you’re aiming for.
Finally, the corking of the bottle will depend on the amount of air you want to get into your wine bottle. It’d change the taste a little, so this step is definitely important.
A Boutique Winery – A Little More Information On It
A boutique winery, in essence, is something more personal than a normal shop you may have found in the Napa Valley. Hence, it can have a different view or two from a regular winery.
Here’s what you need to know about them.
- A boutique winery usually takes a single recipe and tries to perfect it as much as they can. Hence, their garden tends to be a little smaller than usual.
- The quality of a wine derived from a boutique winery is pretty high and mighty. Thus, the price of the same will be much higher than any other brand you find on the road.
- The boutique wineries will show you how they make their wine, the whole process, and all. It’s pretty interesting, so we’ll ask you to check it out.
In essence, a boutique winery wouldn’t be too closely-knitted at all. Also, they don’t accept too many people at the same time. So, if it doesn’t seem like your type, do avoid them.
Three Must-Visit Boutique Wineries In Napa
In this section, I’ll share some information regarding three boutique wineries I visited during my time in Napa Valley. So, if you’re interested, do visit them.
Option – 1: The Hess Collection Winery.
If you want to enjoy an alluring artistic endeavor while sipping on a glass of tasty wine, this should be your go-to place. The owner, Hess, believes in supporting artists and, therefore, has the works of around 20 different artists as a whole. Also, the wine, here, tasted a little on the sweeter side and didn’t seem on par with the other two. But, I loved the ambience.
Option – 2: Ovid Napa Valley.
Named after the famous Roman poet, Ovid has been delivering time and time again. And, it didn’t disappoint when I visited there last year.
The theme of the house is metamorphosis and it permeates through their wine prominently. It also offers a breathtaking view of the Napa Valley, which is an amazing bonus.
Option – 3: Mi Sueno.
Mi Sueno, in essence, is literally a dream come true for the current owner, Ronaldo Herrera. And, it shows throughout his creations as well.
Unlike the former ones, the building of Mi Sueno isn’t really too eye-catching in my opinion. But, the taste of the wine is quite something.
And, there are more than 200 different cases available out there. If you’re visiting this place for the first time, then do taste their Syrah at least once.
The Bottom Line
So, there you go.
If this is your first time visiting the wine country, don’t forget to visit these three places. I’m pretty sure you’re going to love each and every one of them.
