Stacy Wakefield Cancer Illness, Dies at 53

Stacy Wakefield was admired for her generosity in giving back to others and her deep affection for her husband and children.

Stacy and Tim Wakefield, the famed Boston Red Sox pitcher, were parents to two teenagers. Their son, Trevor, was born in 2004, and their daughter, Brianna, followed in 2005. Sadly, within a mere five months, both children lost their parents to cancer.

Stacy’s upbringing was rooted in a family of Japanese descent, where Stacy Wakefield parents worked as pediatricians and also owned a business.

Stacy Wakefield, who worked as a journalist and producer at Fox 26 Houston, passed away on February 25, 2024, at the age of 53. She battled pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed the previous year.

Before her time at Fox Television Stations in Houston, Stacy had an impressive career contributing to respected media outlets such as the Dallas Morning News, the Austin American-Statesman, and the Houston Chronicle. She covered a wide range of topics from urgent news stories to heartwarming human interest pieces.

Stacy Wakefield writing style was engaging, and she had a strong presence on social media. At Fox 26, she was known for producing the 8 a.m. program, “Houston’s Morning Show,” and she also launched other successful shows like “The Isiah Factor Uncensored,” “News Edge,” and “The Nightcap.”

Stacy was married to Tim Wakefield, a former Major League Baseball pitcher known for his time with the Boston Red Sox. Despite her illness, Stacy fought courageously, undergoing chemotherapy and surgery. Unfortunately, the cancer proved to be aggressive, spreading to other parts of her body.

Throughout Stacy Wakefield battle, Stacy remained dedicated to her work at Fox 26 Houston until her health declined. She also continued her support for various charitable causes, particularly those focused on helping children with cancer.

Stacy passed away peacefully at her home in Massachusetts, surrounded by her family, close friends, and caregivers.
