Richard Walker Reid Cause of Death, Obituary, Age

Richard Walker Reid served as a Confederate soldier in the 2nd Virginia Cavalry during the American Civil War. Born on September 26, 1833, in Campbell, Virginia, Walker Reid passed away on September 28, 1903, in Virginia. On February 25, 1863, he married Isabel Graham Richards in Roanoke, Virginia, and together they had at least six children: George, Sally, Kent, Mary, S. H., and Emma.

Alexander Walker Reid, a New Zealand politician who represented the Selwyn electorate in the House of Representatives from 1890 to 1893, was born on September 14, 1853, in Glasgow, Scotland. He died on June 13, 1939, in Christchurch, New Zealand. On April 19, 1882, Richard Walker Reid married Elizabeth Ann Wilson in Springfield, New Zealand, and their union resulted in eight children: Alexander, Helen, Elizabeth, William, John, Margaret, Robert, and James. Walker Reid Maassen, the 20-month-old son of Christopher and Amy Maassen, tragically lost his life on May 6, 2023, in a farm accident near Sioux Center, Iowa. He was struck by a truck driven by his father while unhooking a trailer on the family farm. Walker Reid adored farm life and being surrounded by animals. He is survived by three siblings: Carter, Cooper, and Claire, along with numerous relatives.

Walker Reid, the mayor of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 66. As the first elected African-American mayor of Gastonia, he was a dedicated city leader who spent his life in the service of the public. Married to Brenda, he leaves behind two children, Walker Jr. and Whitney, as well as four grandchildren.
