What Happened with Madison Mogen?
When Madison Mogen was 21 years old she was studying music education at the University of Idaho. Actively involved in the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Sadly on Sunday, November 13 2023 Madison and three of her friends—Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves—all fellow students, at the University of Idaho were fatally stabbed inside Madison’s campus apartment in Moscow, Idaho.
The police responded to a shooting around 10;30 p.m.. Discovered the four victims with multiple stab wounds. A firearm was found on the bed at the location where the crime occurred.
The motive behind these killings remains unknown. An ongoing investigation is currently underway. Authorities have not revealed details regarding what led to these murders.
The alleged perpetrator Bryan Kohberger was arrested on December 30, 2023. He was apprehended at his parent’s residence in Pennsylvania which’s over 2,500 miles away from where the crime took place. Kohberger is facing four charges of first-degree murder. Has been extradited to Idaho.
Madison Mogen was known as an individual who possessed talent and kindness. She valued music along with her friendships leaving a lasting impact, on those who knew her well. Her boyfriend Jacob expressed devastation upon losing her. Madison had a connection, with Kaylee Goncalves, a friend from high school who also shared an apartment with her.
On November 30 2023 a memorial vigil took place at the University of Idaho to pay tribute to Madison Mogen and her three friends. During the vigil family members and friends shared stories, about their lives and achievements.

Madison Mogen is the daughter of Karen Caufield Laramie and Benjamin Mogen. Madison Mogen parents were married for five years, and Madison was their only child. Following their divorce when Madison was two years old, they returned to their hometown of Idaho.
Despite the separation, they maintained an amicable relationship, co-parenting Madison with love and support. Both Karen and Benjamin remarried, expanding their families with new children. Madison enjoyed a close bond with both her biological parents and step-parents. Additionally, she shared her life with a brother named Mason and a sister named Morgan.
