Throughout his illustrious career, Makweng released more than 20 albums, earning accolades such as the South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Traditional Gospel Album. In 2023, he also achieved a BA degree in music from the University of Limpopo.

In 1998, he entered into matrimony with his wife, whose name remains undisclosed to the public. The couple shared the joy of raising four children, consisting of two sons and two daughters. A dedicated member of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC), Makweng was known for his philanthropic endeavors.
