Joe Benting was last seen around 10:30 pm on Sunday, October 22, leaving a bar in Easton on his white street bike. He was wearing joggers, a plaid hoodie, a helmet with gold skulls on it, and an American flag face cover. He had his gray backpack with him. He was heading home to Cedarville, but he never arrived. His mother, Laura Sheehan Benting, posted a plea on Facebook asking for help to find her son.
Joe Benting’s body was found on Monday, October 23, by estate security near his apartment along NTA Road in Mgbuoba. They noticed a foul smell and blood stains coming from his house. They called the police, who discovered that Joe Benting had crashed his motorcycle and died from his injuries. He had been lying there for more than 24 hours.
The police arrested his roommate, Collins, who was suspected of being involved in the crash and possibly removing some of Joe Benting’s body parts for ritual purposes. Collins claimed that he was sick and did not report Joe Benting’s death to the authorities. He also said that he lived alone in the apartment. The police are investigating the case and waiting for a warrant to search Collins’ residence for more evidence.
Joe Benting was a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in International Maritime Business in 2022. He was a talented and passionate student who loved his hometown and his community.
