Isabella de la Houssaye, a 56-year-old mother of five, entrepreneur, and endurance athlete, received a stage IV lung cancer diagnosis in 2018, despite leading a healthy lifestyle with no history of smoking, alcohol consumption, or unhealthy habits. Prior to her diagnosis, she had undergone an annual health checkup where she was deemed in excellent health.

Isabella de la Houssaye family comprises Isabella de la Houssaye husband, David W. Crane, and their five children: Cason, David, Bella, Oliver, and Christopher, all of whom share a passion for adventure and have achieved notable accomplishments in their respective pursuits.

Isabella de la Houssaye has been actively managing her cancer with targeted therapy while incorporating yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices to cope with the challenges she faces. Despite Isabella de la Houssaye health battles, Isabella has climbed mountains, hiked trails, and completed triathlons alongside her children, serving as an inspiration for her courage and resilience. Married to David W. Crane, the president of NRG Energy, Isabella’s children have also made significant achievements. Cason, for instance, is the first openly gay mountaineer to conquer the Seven Summits and a participant in the USA Network show “Race to Survive: Alaska.” Oliver, an adventurer and rower, accomplished a solo Atlantic Ocean crossing at the age of 19. Bella, a singer and songwriter, joined Cason on “Race to Survive: Alaska.”

Isabella, a graduate of Columbia Law School, initially worked as an international finance lawyer at White & Case LLP and an investment banker at Lehman Brothers before co-owning Material Culture, a Philadelphia-based furniture and antique emporium and auction house.
