Eloa Pimentel Death, Crime Story, Murder Reason, Wiki

In October 2008, the tragic story of 15-year-old Brazilian girl Eloá Pimentel unfolded as she became the victim of a horrifying crime committed by her ex-boyfriend, Lindemberg Alves. Their two-year relationship ended in September 2008, but Alves couldn’t accept the breakup and developed an unhealthy obsession with Eloá. His threatening behavior escalated, including an attempt to run her over with his car.

Eloá Pimentel Crime Story

On October 13, 2008, Eloá Pimentel was at her apartment in Santo André, São Paulo, working on a school project with Eloá Pimentel friend Nayara and two male classmates when Alves forcibly entered with a pistol, taking them hostage. Though he released the two boys, he kept Eloá and Nayara in captivity, setting off a series of events that would grip the nation.

Law enforcement, including the Special Tactical Actions Group (GATE), arrived at the scene, attempting to negotiate with Alves. His demands included speaking with Eloá’s mother, Ana Cristina, a lawyer, as well as requesting a TV, a radio, and food. On October 14, Ana Cristina was allowed into the apartment, reporting that Alves appeared calm and Eloá Pimentel was seemingly unharmed. She believed Alves loved Eloá and wouldn’t harm her.

As negotiations continued, Nayara was released on October 15 after fainting. She informed the police about Alves’ abusive behavior towards Eloá Pimentel and the threats he made if the police intervened. Despite the ongoing crisis, Nayara chose to return to the apartment on October 16, hoping to convince Alves to surrender and save Eloá.

Tragically, after over 100 hours of negotiations, the police heard two gunshots on October 17. They decided to storm the apartment, finding Alves holding Eloá Pimentel, both girls having been shot in the head, and Nayara injured on the floor. Eloá was declared brain dead and taken off life support on October 18, while Nayara survived but lost sight in one eye. Alves, shot in the arm during the police intervention, was arrested and faced charges including murder, attempted murder, false imprisonment, and weapon shooting.

Eloá Pimentel funeral drew thousands mourning her death and demanding justice. Her organs were donated to seven people in need of transplants. Alves’ trial began on February 13, 2012, lasting four days. Despite his claims of accidental shootings and misplaced love, the jury found him guilty on all charges, sentencing him to 39 years and 3 months in prison. His appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court of Justice in 2015, and he is currently serving his sentence in a maximum-security prison in Tremembé, São Paulo.
